Privacy

In short: there are no accounts, your progress stays in your browser, and data leaves your device only when you act — when you add a name to the leaderboard, turn on reminders or challenge a friend. The game works fully without any of that.

What stays on your device

Your level, XP, collection, achievements, weak spots and settings live in your browser’s storage (localStorage) on this device. We don’t see or receive them.

A backup is a file you save yourself. It is never uploaded.

To delete everything, clear the site data for lukano.app in your browser settings.

Analytics

We count visits with Plausible, a service with no cookies and no user identifiers. We only see aggregate numbers: how many visits, which site you came from, country, device type and browser, plus game events — a round started or finished, the mode, the share of right answers and the app version.

Leaderboard — optional

Nothing is sent until you add a name. The name is your consent.

After that our server receives: the name you made up, a random identifier for this browser, your round results (score, time, mode, part of the world and difficulty) and your total XP, rounds and right answers. The board is public, so it’s best not to use your real name.

“Leave the ranking” in your profile stops sending. To remove rows already on the board, email lukano@lukano.app.

Challenging a friend

Only players with a name can send a challenge. We store the name, score and round settings, then the name and score of whoever answers.

If you have reminders on, the challenge also stores your notification address so we can tell you when your friend answers. It is erased as soon as they do. Challenges themselves are deleted after 30 days.

Reminders — optional

When you turn on reminders, your browser issues a notification address (created by its push service — Google, Mozilla or Apple). We store that address, your language and time zone offset to remind you at 9:00 your time. There is no name or other personal data in it.

Turn reminders off and the record is deleted. The delivery log is kept for 14 days and holds only the last 12 characters of the address.

Journey starting point

To suggest a country to start your journey from, the app asks our server which country the request came from. It answers with two letters (for example, UA) — we don’t read or store the IP address. The answer stays on your device, and you can pick another country by hand.

Servers

The site runs on DigitalOcean and keeps no request logs. The leaderboard, challenges and reminders run on Cloudflare. Like any host, these providers technically see a request’s IP address in order to deliver it.
